** THIS SITE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION **

This is the new, updated version of the Homeless Information Pages website. If you know of a service or information which you think should be included on this site, or if you would like to be responsible for your organisations' information on this website, please let us know.

Am I homeless?

If you are in any of these situations, then the law says you are homeless, and Glasgow City Council has a legal duty to help you.

You are legally homeless if you

  • have no accommodation at all
  • are living in temporary accomodation, for example a hostel, bed and breakfast or a hotel
  • usually live in a mobile home, for example a caravan or boat, but there is nowhere for you to put it

You are also legally homeless if you have accomodation, and

  • you cannot gain entry to it, for example because the landlord has changed the locks
  • you are being threatened with violence, for example from a partner, ex-partner or neighbours
  • it is not reasonable for you to stay there because of overcrowding which is affecting your health
  • it is not reasonable for you to stay there because it is of such a poor standard
  • you don't have permission to stay there
  • family or friends that you have been staying with have asked you to leave
